The Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature models all feature the same 2.5-liter SKYACTIV®-G inline four-cylinder engine. This turbocharged engine is powered by 250 horses and produces 310 pound-foot of torque. All trims are available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive except the Signature, which only comes with an all-wheel drivetrain. Even with 250 horsepower, this crossover is remarkably efficient. Drivers can expect to average up to 28 highway mpg, 22 city mpg, and 24 combined mpg.

That 310 pound-foot of torque we mentioned above is directly responsible for contributing to the vehicle’s towing capacity. For the Mazda CX-9, that maximum towing capacity is 3,500 lbs. when properly equipped.
